Phil’s Seasoned Chops

Pork chop

Thanks to Phil Witts who sent this beauty in. We couldn’t believe how easy it was to prepare. And, the taste was something special; the chops were moist and succulent. Keep sending them in please Phil.


2 chops
2 carrots, diced
1 onion, sliced
1 tbsp plain flour
1 tbsp tomato sauce
2 tsp tomato paste
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
2 tsp malt vinegar
1/2 tsp mustard powder
1/2 tsp sugar
2 tsp salt
1 cup water
1 plastic bag

Cooking Instructions

  1. Coat chops with flour and mustard powder (use bag).
  2. Heat oil in small inner pot and add coated chops and onion, cooking till slightly browned.
  3. Combine remaining ingredients (including leftover flour) into a mixing bowl and stir well.
  4. Pour mixture over the chops.
  5. Bring pot to boil and simmer for 30 minutes.
  6. In the meantime boil 3 litres water in large inner pot.
  7. Place small inner pot in large inner pot. Return pot to Ecopot, with lid on.
  8. Cooking time 2-3 hours.

HINT … One hour prior to serving check meal for consistency. If thickening desired, add one teaspoon dissolved cornflour, stirring briskly to pot.
