Greek Style Roast Beef

Greek beef

Con, the Ecopot National Manager is of Greek decent. Often referred to as the “Glacier” for various reasons, his love of traditional slow cooked greek dishes meant this one had to be included.


400 gm roast beef trimmed
1/4 cup red wine
2 tablespoons of flour
1 tablespoon of oregano
400 gm roast beef trimmed olive oil
clove of garlic
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1 oven bag
salt and pepper to taste

Cooking Instructions

  1. Cut garlic into slices and push into beef.
  2. Heat oil in small inner pot and brown beef.
  3. Add lemon, red wine and sprinkle with oregano, salt and pepper.
  4. In large inner pot, fill half way with water and bring to boil.
  5. Place beef into oven bag and secure firmly with bag tie.
  6. Place bag into large inner pot and simmer for 30 minutes.
  7. Transfer large inner pot to Ecopot, with lid on.
  8. Cooking time 3 hours.

HINT … Con says that this will give you a delightful Greek roast with instant gravy to boot by adding flour to the oven bag when placing the beef into it. As the juices extract the gravy is made. Vegetables can also be done in the same oven bag, by simply following the same method.
